The Mission

"To design memorable lessons that educates, empowers and engages students in a meaningful way"

The Projects

Sphero Coding:  A group of students design a maze and challenge another group of students to finish their maze using the Sphero Robot.  The group writes a code that enables the robot to traverse the maze autonomously .

Subject: Literacy, Math, Technology , Art

Sphero Soccer ( Version 1)

Game Design:   Create a game with 4-8 players portable game.  Design game rules, and game pieces.

Using a scrap piece of cardboard, students designed, painted their very own soccer table.  The goals were designed using Tinkercad and 3d printed using Makerbot printer.  The Spheros are controlled by teams of 3 using an ipads.  \

The Race Car - Forces and Motion

Students were tasked in the creation of their very race Car which they would use to measure distance, and speed.  They would also learn about variables when creating an experiment and what can determine different outcomes.

Subject : Science, Math

3D printed race cars to be used to measure forces in motion.

Project Knex Racers

Students were challenged with the creation of a Knex race car driven by a Sphero.  Each student designed their car, and helped design an obstacle course.

Project Prove Unity Wrong - Also known as VR Dungeon

Students were challenged in learning Unity Design Software and create a fully functioning Virtual Reality Video game.  The game would be classified as a Dungeon Crawler and would require students to solve puzzles and avoid enemies to reach the end of the maze.

Arcade Machine ( Bloxels Presentation)

Student painting the cabinet of an arcade machine.
Red and black student created Foam cabinet holding an ipad

Students designed a Bloxels Arcade cabinet to present their Bloxels game creation.

The bloxels game are created on an IPAD and published online to a private server where anyone play.  The cabinet served as a way to present their games in a informal and interactive way.

The Arcade Cabinet also served as a way to present the history of gaming and how games were presented in the past.

Racing Simulator

Student designed racing simulator being used by a teacher.

Students were tasked in designing a racing cockpit that would incorporate haptic feedback, virtual reality and fully functioning  racing cockpit.

Project Arts : Film

Our first movie trailer! Titled Guess Who?

PS.159 Film Academy

The students at P.S.159 will be attending Saturday Film school.  This year students will learn the basic and intermediate level skills in film production.  Students will learn how to create story boards, write scripts,  cast actors, design wardrobe, edit and develop a deeper understanding in the creation of a digital media.

Our culminating project will use all the skills they have learned throughout the program to produce a documentary on their Cultural Identity.
